Updating the Design System
The 2020 website was built around a newly formed Design System. The goal was now to shape the design system further by designing and integrating the new mobile app’s UI.
Advocating for better accessibility for people
Accessibility features being currently hidden under a menu, I suggested to have them readily available in the navigation bar of an article. The suggestion was not considered this time, because of the scope being limited to visual design.
Designing a new widget for iOS 13
With the new iOS update, Apple users got the possibility to use home screen widgets to access information more easily. I was in charge to design a new widget in cohesion with the app re-design.
Interfaces for iPhone, iPad and Android devices.
The challenge was to design every component with multiple variations for every device. Each component and interface was adapted for iPhone, iPad and Android, following existing UI guidelines by Apple and Google. I mainly focused my work on the article page, and helped the Lead Product Designer to have cohesive screens for menu and settings pages. All in all, 100+ interfaces were communicated to developers.
New UI components were successfully integrated in the design system. The new app was developed and launched on the App Store and the Play Store after the end of my apprenticeship.
